So Belle just moved into Dreamlight Valley, and within 48 hours she’s already in library drama with Merlin. Iconic.
Turns out, the Dreamlight Library is missing a TON of books (thanks, irresponsible villagers), so Belle can’t borrow any until WE fix it. Cue her Friendship Level 2 quest: “Book Hunt.”
Let’s do this, book bestie.
🗺️ Step 1: Find All the Lost Books
You’ll be tracking down books borrowed by Goofy, Mirabel, Remy, and Scrooge McDuck.
(Don’t have Mirabel yet? Go talk to Merlin. He’ll help you unlock her and her magical Casita.)
🐾 Goofy’s Lostt Book – “Bear In Mind”
Location: Just talk to Goofy. Seriously.
Drama level: Zero. He didn’t lose it. He’s just… holding onto it. Like a sweet cinnamon roll. He hands it right over. Take notes, everyone else.
🦋 Mirabel’s Lost Book – “Crafty Creatures”
Location: The Plaza, by the fountain
Backstory: She lost it while feeding squirrels (adorable but chaotic)
Where exactly: Edge of the fountain, opposite side from the Dream Castle Just walk up and grab it. No fight. No fishing. No digging. Thank you, Mirabel.
🐀 Remy’s Lost Book – “Extraordinary RATventures”
Location: Dazzle Beach, on the dock
Backstory: He dropped it in the water. In the water.
How to get it: Look for gold fishing bubbles just off the end of the dock. Use your Royal Fishing Rod. Yes, you’re fishing up a book. No, I don’t make the rules. Title checks out, honestly.
🪙 Scrooge McDuck’s Lost Book – “Coin Pool Theory”
Location: Dazzle Beach (buried)
Backstory: He buried it while digging for treasure. Of course he did.
How to find it: Look for a Glittering Mound – brownish-yellow, with something sticking out of it. Use your Royal Shovel. Congratulations, you’ve just committed archaeological book rescue.
📖 Step 2: Return & Shelve Like a Pro
Once you have all four books, go talk to Belle. She’ll follow you to Merlin like an excited puppy, and you’ll both become…
Honorary Dreamlight Librarians.
(Yes, that’s a real title. Yes, I’m putting it on my résumé under “Special Skills.”)
Now comes the tricky part: Merlin’s classification system. Belle helps, but here’s the cheat sheet so you don’t look silly in front of a wizard:
Book Title Correct Shelf:
Crafty Creatures: Wandless Arts and Crafts
Coin Pool Theory: Monetary Physics and Swim Strokes
Cursed Negotiations: Making Better Devious Deals Magical Contract Law
(Don’t ask me why the third book showed up. It’s part of the quest. Just roll with it.)
🎁 Step 3: The Mysterious Book (Ooooh spooky)
At the very end, Belle hands you a “Mysterious Book.” She’ll need your help deciphering it in later friendship quests.
So yeah. This isn’t goodbye. It’s a cliffhanger.

You did it! Belle can now borrow books, Merlin is slightly less grumpy, and you’ve officially become the Valley’s most adorable librarian-detective hybrid.
